My New Year's Soccer Resolution

Normally I don't do any New Year's resolutions because to me they are a waste of time and energy. Stuff like this always happens every year:

  • Hangover from New Year's Day Party (I never attend them).
  • Bombardment of "Getting Healthy As A Resolution"commercials & news reports from fitness & gym companies just to get you (and your money) to come into their gym.
  • Eating black eye peas, cabbage, etc.. on New Year's Day just for good luck. (Yeah right!)
  • Firecrackers shooting out from drunk people. Much like last night.
  • Watching the usual {Insert Some Crappy Corporate Name} college bowl throwball game on TV.
So I decided to give out my realistic soccer resolutions for 2010. This is in no particular order:

* A much better performance for the U.S. Men's National Team for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. we don't want to repeat the performance they did in France 1998 and Germany in 2006.

* An healthy and speedy recovery for Oguchi Onyewu & Charlie Davies to hopefully make it to the World Cup. Their presence is sorely missed.

* A better and much livable wage for MLS players instead of having to suffer under the low paying current condition that the MLS is giving them. And hopefully a CBA can be reached so there won't be any labor strike.

* A better contract for Stuart Holden rather if it's in Europe (Burnley's the lastest) or in Houston. Dynamo fans would prefer the latter.

* A more stable, organized and unified second division for not only for the Austin Aztex but the rest of the clubs in the United States and Canada.

* Better attendance from MLS clubs across the continent and not just in Toronto & Seattle alone.

* No more childish, egotistic, greedy and boorish behavior coming from USL-1, NASL/TOA, MLS & USSF that takes away from the best interest for soccer fans and the game itself in this country.

* Finding the U.S. Soccer Hall of Fame a new home. Such rich history of this sport should not be gone away from the public eye. Come on U.S. Soccer, get it together and help then out.

* More importance of the U.S Open Cup and less of...better yet.. just get rid of SuperLiga all together.

* Getting Frankie Hejduk to be the official spokesperson for my friend Dan's Free Beer Movement.

* Have the Austin Aztex have a better 2nd season, with a increase in attendance and improved atmosphere at House Park and winning the title.

* Have FC Dallas to finally winning a MLS Cup for the long suffering fans like me. The Inferno and El Matador deserve it.

* Have Houston Dynamo get their new soccer(-only) stadium so they don't have to deal with that awful football field condition. But to be honest, it's better than the fake plastic turf. Thank God Toronto is getting rid of theirs.

* A better and improved WPS season. Plus more visibility and better notice from the public media (aka ESPN) for not only WPS, but for women's soccer in general. Especially when all the media attention was focused more on that New Mexico player's bad incident on BYU instead of Sky Blues FC amazing run towards the championships or Marta winning FIFA's Women's Player of the Year.

That's all I have right now at this moment. But I might add more along the way. What are you thought about my soccer resolutions? And what are your soccer resolutions for 2010? Please leave you comments here.
