NOTES:

One thing that took me by surprised is that the Timbers signed Eddie Johnson during the season and then loaned him back to Austin for the rest of the season. You wondered why the Montreal Impact announcers mentioned Eddie's signing during the Impact-Aztex playoff broadcast and Miguel Gallardo mentioning about Johnson's departure on last week's Futbol En Vivo. To me, its all about both the Portland Timbers and the Vancouver Whitecaps using all of their means (and loopholes) to sign players before entering MLS and their strict rules and regulations of getting players. I would not be surprise if the Montreal Impact will do the same for next season in preparation for 2012.

For those who want to reminisce about Eddie Johnson, you can listen to him along with Djorn Buchholz on Episode 5 of In The Mixer podcast. Also you can listen to last week's Episode 8 of In The Mixer podcast recapping the Austin Aztex's 2010 season and what to look forward towards next season. It's best to listen to Episode 5 while drinking an Aztex Amber Ale (whom his picture is on the bottle) in his honor. We wish him to best of luck (expect playing them in the U.S. Open Cup ;-) ) with the Portland Timbers next season in MLS.

The other news is that Austin Aztex midfielder Yordany Alvarez is on trial with the Houston Dynamo. We now know why Dominic Kinnear was scouting at House Park during the Aztex-Impact 2nd leg game. I know that it's only a trial, but the FC Dallas fan in me doesn't want him to go to Houston as he's along with Lawrence Olum a stable Aztex force pair in central midfield. Plus the fact he's looks better in Aztex red and white instead of Dynamo orange. ;-) So we will see how that one plays out and what Kinnear's judgment is on Alvarez.

Chantico's Army: 2010.09.28 :: Futbol en Vivo (English)

Special condolences for David Alvarez, who lost his father this week. David, you are in the thoughts and prayers of everyone in Chantico's Army and the Austin Aztex.

Chantico's Army:
2010.09.28 :: In the Mixer :: Episode 7 :: Chris Grayson, Paul Hart and Steve Holler (President-Elect of Ralph's Mob)

NOTE:

Watching Event: Austin Aztex at Carolina RailHawks Watching Party begins on Friday (Tomorrow) at 6 p.m. at Mister Tramps Sports Pub & Cafe. Please get here early because here are some reason why YOU SHOULD BE THERE.

1) We have the big room with the big screen to ourselves that evening.

2) Very soccer friendly atmosphere. Meaning no NFL and MLB games or fans to get distracted from watching soccer.

3) No college throwball games (since UT fans will be traveling to Big D for the weekend).

4) Contest to win some Aztex playoff tickets perhaps?

5) It's FREAKING FRIDAY !!!! What better way to get off from work than to head to Mister Tramps to get a cold beer after a hard days work.

6) You get to hang out with very cool and hip Austin Aztex fans & Chantico's Army members. If that doesn't get you excited, I don't know what does. ;-)

7) You get to see & witness the Aztex (hopefully) clinch the USSF D2 League title with a win at Carolina.

So I hope to see you this Friday evening. GO AZTEX!!!!

Tuesday's Aztex News & Notes

We're just days away from the opening start of the Austin Aztex's 2010 season and KVUE has a wonderful article on how the Aztex are getting ready to open their season at House Park on Sunday April 11 at 6:00 pm CST.

And the commercial for the opening match are up and running in Austin.

Also I would like to point out a subject matter to what my friend Chris from The Aztexan has mention before and will be said again.

Anyway don't forget to listen to Futbol En Vivo this afternoon at 1:00pm CST on KOOP 91.7 FM. Community radio station in Austin, Texas.

Aztex News & Notes

Aztex Coach's Show airs on AM1300-The Zone tonight at 6:30pm!

Please don't forget to listen to it. I absent-minded forgot to listen to it last week. :-(

Taylor overcomes injury, heads to England

Very classy player. We will miss him here and wish him the best of luck in England. we will be following his progress at Forest Green Rovers FC.

Harwell shining with pros after injury

To me Harwell has been one of the bright spots on the Aztex team. Very good harding working flank midfielder.

Aztex Make More Roster Moves; Copa Aztex is Saturday

Very much needed player additions to the roster. Especially with all of the injuries and loan players that we've been dealing with all season. And I bet you that Kevin Sakuda is glad not to be on the Montreal Impact train wreak. ;-)

And here's a link to what I'm talking about:

Another Montreal Meltdown

Ouch!! That's a Caption Contest waiting to happen.

Don't forget that Copa Aztex between Cruz Azul & Tigres is this Saturday at 7 pm.

The Montreal Impact vs Austin Aztex Preview

The Austin Aztex will play their first road game of the season this Sunday afternoon as they take on the Montreal Impact. The game will start at 2:45 pm CST and will be on USL Live. Chantico's Army members and Austin Aztex fans will gather at Cuatro's (24th and San Gabriel) for the Austin Aztex's watching event. So please join us for the game.

The Impact are coming off a 1-0 loss to Toronto in the Nutrilite Canadian Championship and that result lead to the firing of John Limniatis the next day. Considering the form they have been during the early part of the USL-1 season (one point in four matches) and the result of the CONCACAF Champions League quarter-finals exit in the hands of Santos Laguna you can see why the front office let him go. They hired Marc Dos Santos as their interim head coach of the team. But there is no rest for him and the Impact as they take on the Charleston Battery tomorrow evening at 6:45 pm CST and then 2 days later against the Aztex.

Meanwhile the Aztex (6 points in four matches) need to get their 2nd win of the season. One of the issue that they need to prepare for Montreal is to not to start slow and conceded the goals early in the games that the Aztex have to come back to find the equalizer. That resulted in the 3 draws that the Aztex produced and you can not afford to drop points at home. Plus they need to get their players fit as there are rumors that some players won't make the trip due injuries. So their roster depth is put to the test. So lets hope they can get a massive 3 points on the road against a struggling (hopefully still after Friday's match) Montreal team.

In other Aztex news, the Austin Aztex U-23 PDL team won their first match of the season (4 points in 3 matches) in Waco as they defeated the DFW Tornados 4-2. You can check out the match report from Chantico Army member that made the trip to Waco yesterday.

What a bunch of lovely fellas. ;-)
